FAQs
FAQs
Do you have a colour chart?
No. We understand the importance of colour in decision making. The printing process can never accurately reproduce the colour and texture. Instead, we insist you have quality paving samples, cut from real pavers and designed to give you the most accurate reproduction of your paving colour and texture.
Is the colour painted on?
No. The oxide is mixed right in with the rest of the concrete. If you see a cut JAGAS paver you will notice that the top 12mm is solid colour with no aggregate in it. This is a special high strength, high durability topping mix. We make the paving this way to ensure that as the paver ages it will not end up looking like concrete with a coloured background. Instead the paver weathers to look like natural sandstone. If you are trying to match coloured concrete which does have aggregate in it, we can do that too.
Will the colour fade?
Initially. There will be a colour change while the product cures (this takes 1-6 months), then the colour will stabilise. The oxides are colourfast. What has happened in the past with some other products is the low cement:oxide/aggregate ratio means the oxide literally 'falls out'. It has taken years of development and research to ensure our cement ratios are at the optimum level to hold the oxide firm. Please note that efflorescence can also give the appearance of fading.
What is efflorescence?
Efflorescence is the phenomenon of natural salts migrating to the surface of the concrete as water moves in and out of the product. The amount of efflorescence is determined by the number of salts contained in the raw materials and the amount of water that soaks into the paving and then evaporates. Often, the better the quality and strength of concrete, the more efflorescence appears due to the high cement content. Sealing your paving helps to slow down the process by reducing the water absorption. However, make sure you get a sealer which accounts for efflorescence. (Refer Article from 'Concrete' Journal of the Cement and Concrete Association of New Zealand Vol.43 Issue No.1)
Should I seal my paving?
Yes. We do recommend you seal your paving approximately 1-2 weeks after they have been laid. Sealing helps to reduce the amount of cleaning and maintenance necessary, prevents staining and fungal growth, and can help slow down efflorescence.
How long will I have to wait for my order to be made up?
For orders less than 100m2, normal delivery is approximately two weeks (excluding peak season which is 3-4 weeks). More than 100m2, please enquire.
Can you customise colours?
Yes. We can do special sample runs of colours to your requirements. This usually takes about one week. There is a small fee to cover materials and labour. Customised colours normally cost 5% more than standard mix designs.
Do you recommend any contractors to lay the paving?
Yes. It is essential for our pavers to be laid by a qualified layer for a professional job. Click here to find out about our Accredited Installers and 5-Year Extended Warranty.
